The unique feature of the ski resort village of Zermatt is that it is an entirely car-free area. The village is home to the famous Matterhorn Mountain. Situated on the border between Switzerland and Italy, Zermatt welcomes a flow of visitors from different parts of the world every year. Since the area is car-free, visitors have to stop at the nearby town of Tasch. Zermatt is the perfect mixture of a modern and traditional vacation experience. Alpinbus provides taxi transfer service to visitors with minibuses from the Basel airport to Tasch-Zermatt. Alpinbus also offers pickup services from anywhere within the area, depending on where you are.

EuroAirport Basel is binational airport and is run jointly by France and Switzerland. It is basically split down the middle, with a French side and a Swiss side. Official EuroAirport Basel site here

If you are traveling to Zermatt: Zermatt is a car free resort and there is no road access to the resort, so your transfer will have a drop off/pick up at the Matterhorn Terminal Tasch and from here, you catch a short train ride up to the Zermatt. The journey with train takes around 12 minutes. When you will arrive in Zermatt, you can call your hotel by using the free hotel phone at the station and they will organise an electric taxi to come and collect you. But if you are staying at a private address or your hotel doesn’t offer this service, there are also private taxis available for hire.
