About Avoriaz

Sitting atop Morzine in Haute-Savoie is the Avoriaz, the highest village in the large Portes du Soleil ski area and one of the most snow-sure ski resorts in the French Alps. The Avoriaz is ideal for skiiers from the UK as it is only 45 minutes from the A40 autoroute exit at Cluses and has a TGV high-speed train from Paris. Our vans  can get skiers from Geneva Airport to Avoriaz in about two hours, making it a great option for travelers arriving via European and long-haul flights.  Avoriaz offers varied groomed terrain for various levels of skiers and its 650 km piste network adds a lot to the entire quality of the skiing experience. The Avoriaz is designed traffic-free, which works well, making it a ski-in/ski-out and offer everything you need from ski-school areas to bars, shops and restaurants all nearby. The Avoriaz is best for families and young skiers although there are still some demanding black runs here too. The wealth of apartment accommodation, entertainment and bars, combined with extensive ski terrain offers a solid package for keen skiers and snowboarders.

Useful information about Geneva Airport to Avoriaz transfers

Geneva airport is located near the French border and has terminals in both Switzerland and France. For airport transfers always exit on the Swiss side terminal. Official Geneva airport site here

As Avoriaz is a car-free resort, we cannot drive you directly to your accommodation, so you need to choose one of two drop off or pick up points for your transfer - Avoriaz (Avoriaz Welcome Center) or Avoriaz Cable Car (Prodains Telepherique). To choose the right option, please check your accommodation location in the Avoriaz website.

Avoriaz (Avoriaz Welcome Center)

If you are staying in the top area of the resort, it is better to choose Avoriaz and you will be dropped off at the Welcome Centre at the entrance to the resort, near the Falaise area. Avoriaz Welcome Centre at the entrance to the resort is closest to the Falaise and L’Amara areas. The Falaise area is within walking distance. If you are staying at the L’Amara, you will be dropped off and picked up on level 1 of the underground parking for this residence.

If your accommodation is in one of the other areas, you can take a snow taxi or horse & cart to your accommodation from the welcome centre, the cost is roughly €8 for up to 6 people. If you prefer to walk, there are luggage sledges available to use. The journey from Morzine to Avoriaz is approximately 30 minutes, but can sometimes be longer during peak season or in adverse weather conditions.

At times, due to heavy snow and the altitude of the resort, it can be impossible to access Avoriaz by road. In these situations, your transfer will go to the cable car instead.

Avoriaz Cable Car (Prodains Telepherique)

The Avoriaz Cablecar (Prodains Telepherique) offers more convenient access to the lower end of the resort. There is a cost for the cable car, although if you already have your lift pass this can be used. The transfer time is approximately 20-30 minutes less if you choose to go to the cable car. The lift is covered on the Avoriaz and Portes de Soleil lift pass if you have one, or you can buy a pedestrian pass for approx. €9 per person (please check the Avoriaz website for accurate and up to date pricing).

From the cable car station, you can take a snow taxi or horse & cart for the same price as from the Welcome Centre. However, it will depend on your flight time, as to whether you are able to take the cable car as for early flight departures the cable car will not open early enough to get you to the transfer meeting point and for late arrivals you will get to the cable car after it closes and not be able to use it to access the resort.

Please note - cable car may not work for very late arrivals and very early departures as it may not be open, so we would advise you to check the opening times in Avoriaz website before booking your transfer. We would suggest that for arrivals, your arrival flight time should be no later than 3 hours before the time of the last lift and for departure; your departure flight should be no earlier than 4 hours before the lift opens.

If your pick-up is in Geneva airport
Arrival pickup time - driver will track your flight arrival time (according to your flight number you provided) and wait you in arrivals.

If your pick-up is in Avoriaz
Departure pickup time - tailored to your flight time. For transfers from resort to airport we aim to get you to the airport around 2 hours before your flight departs.

In winter season Saturdays and Sundays are the most bussy days for passenger transfers with most heavy traffic. Therefore for these days it is necessary to count at least an hour more in transfer time compared to week days transfers.
