The Courmayeur (1224m) is a 17th century spa town located at the foot of the Mont-Blanc atop the Aosta valley. The town has pretty buildings with slate roofs which line the traffic-free cobbled streets of the old town. The central via Roma is filled with bars, supermarkets and jewelry shops. It has a peak summit of 2755m, a base height of 1704m and a vertical drop of 1051m.
The ski area though not big or high offers scenic views and great snow cover as a result of the north and north-west facing slopes. The resort is best suited for competent skiers who enjoy venturing off-piste. Courmayeur lies just beyond Chamonix and is a 90 minute drive from Geneva Airport which our vans runs through.
Geneva airport is located near the French border and has terminals in both Switzerland and France. For airport transfers always exit on the Swiss side terminal. Official Geneva airport site here
